In 2012/2013, we bought an old farm from 1718 in a mountain village near Lucca in Tuscany. The village is called Coreglia Antelminelli and is a small genuine village that is classified as one of Italy's most beautiful. You could say a bit of an impulse purchase, but we have not regretted it since then (maybe at times when we have experienced the Italian bureaucracy). The plan has always been to eventually move there and try to run an organic B&B with some self-sufficiency.
